The building housing our program is located within the historic edifice of the Franciscan Monastery in Makarska, which was officially opened on February 4, 2023. Thanks to the generosity of the Franciscan Province of the Most Holy Redeemer, this impressive structure, blessed by the provincial minister, Father Marko Mrše, now serves as the home for our Hospitality and Gastronomy studies at the University of Split. The grand opening was attended by distinguished guests, including the Rector of the University of Split, Dragan Ljutić, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Mayor Zoran Paunović, County Prefect Blaženko Boban, Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Ante Sanader, and Ministers Tomo Medved, Radovan Fuchs, Gordan Grlić Radman, and Nikolina Brnjac.

The project of reconstruction, renovation, and equipping this building was challenging, but thanks to the talented architectural team led by Josip Rogošić, the chief designer, and Andrea Dujić from the "Ja arhitekt" studio, it was successfully transformed into a modern public educational institution. An investment of over 1 million euros facilitated the transformation of this historic building into a space with a total net area of 802.05 square meters, spread across three floors with a total of six classrooms. Our classrooms are equipped with the latest technology to ensure the highest quality education for students. In addition to classrooms, the spaces are designed for optimal organization and include offices for professors, a student affairs office, and a porter’s lodge, along with common areas for rest and student gatherings on each floor.

Special attention was given to accessibility and functionality, resulting in the installation of a new three-story staircase and elevator, the adaptation of sanitary facilities for people with disabilities, and the arrangement of access to the building with a ramp and stone steps for people with reduced mobility. We also invested in the aesthetic aspect, with new stone paving and horticultural landscaping of the surroundings, ensuring that our building not only meets all the needs of modern education but also aesthetically contributes to the environment.
