Sveučilište u Splitu podržava UN-ove ciljeve održivog razvoja

About us

As part of its development strategy, the University of Split decided to relocate several of its study programs, including the Hotel Management and Gastronomy program now based in Makarska. This choice was driven by several practical reasons, primarily because Makarska and its surrounding area represent one of the most developed tourist regions in Croatia. The location is rich with high-category hotels and an extensive tourist offering that attracts visitors from around the world, providing students with an exceptional opportunity to learn and work in a top-tier tourism environment with high standards. Makarska, a city of remarkable beauty, also offers numerous amenities that enrich student life.

The formal inauguration of the 2019/2020 academic year and the opening of the undergraduate program of Hotel Management and Gastronomy took place at the Park Hotel in Makarska on Tuesday, October 1, at 10 a.m. The ceremony was attended by the program's first cohort of students. Welcome speeches were given by the Rector of the University of Split, Prof. Dr. Dragan Ljutić, the County Prefect of Split-Dalmatia, Blaženko Boban, and the Mayor of Makarska, Jure Brkan. Until the renovation of the Franciscan Monastery building was completed, with a formal reopening on February 4, 2023, classes were held in hotels throughout Makarska. This significant milestone further enriched the infrastructure and resources available to students and faculty.
